Examination certificate from upper secondary school including or complemented by the courses 1 and 2 in mathematics.Aim
The aim of the course is to give basic understanding of physical relations and a good ground for continued studies at universities of technology.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- apply the law of reflection and Snell's law for light rays
- draw the rays for lenses and apply the lens formulas and calculate magnification
- conduct calculations on harmonic oscillator (position, velocity, acceleration and energy)
- explain the wave phenomena interference and diffraction
- apply Wiens law and Stefan-Boltzmann's law of black body radiation
- explain photo electric effect
- explain the physical mechanisms governing the structure of atoms and nuclei as well as radioactivity

The course contains lectures, problem solving demonstrations and one lab.Literature
- R. Alphonce, et al.: Heureka! Fysik 1 och 2 basåret, teoribok (Natur och kultur)
- R. Alphonce, et al.: Heureka! Fysik 1 och 2 basåret, övningsbok (Natur och kultur)
- Documents from the course home page.
Examination including compulsory elements
Written exam and presence at the lab. The grade on the exam is according to the TH system. The course, together with the other two courses at ZBASS/ZBARD, has the same content and depth as the high school "Fysik 2".
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers about disability study support.
