Aim

The subject of industrial economics aims, among other things, to create a bridge between technology and economics/management in industrial companies. The purpose of this course is to present and provide an understanding of basic concepts and models for the management and conservation of resources in industrial companies.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

  • Apply basic models for product costing, linear programming, investment calculation, and budgeting
  • Understand when different economic calculation models are suitable in different situations
  • Understand how basic analytical models can be used in companies

Examination including compulsory elements

A written exam. Examination can also include mid-term exams as well as written and oral presentation of case exercises/hand-ins/projects.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers about disability study support.
