Aim

The overall purpose of the course is to provide basic knowledge on how quantitative methods and models can be used to solve managerial decision problems.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- use linear programming to model common types of managerial decision and optimisation problems

- use software to solve and analyse linear programming models

- use basic analytical models within an operations management context

Content

- Introduction to operations research

- Linear programming

- Queueing models

- Statistical process control

Organisation

The course comprises a series of lectures, consultations and a compulsory project seminar.

The literature for the course will be announced at the course homepage no later than two weeks before the start of the course.

Examination including compulsory elements

- Written examination (U/3/4/5)

- Written project report with oral presentation (U/G)

- Written assignment (U/G)
