Aim
The aim of the course is for students to acquire basic knowledge and understanding of the Swedish legal system. In this course the emphasis is on civil issues and regulations relevant to businesses. The goal is for students to gain a basic familiarity with legal terminology and legal system construction, obtaining knowledge of the existing law on the central areas of law in civil and commercial matters, develop basic skills for reading and interpretation of the rules and regulations, legal analysis and legal argumentation (legal method).Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Identify legal questions concerning the legal areas included in the course- Make basic legal arguments which are exemplified by the legal areas in the course
- Solve basic legal problems which are exemplified by the legal areas in the course

Content
- The basics in law, legal methods, sustainability, ethics and systematical work.
- The character and structure of the Swedish legal system, legal sources, legal terms and basic terminology
- Legal method and problem solving
- The basics within the legal areas: - Contract law - Purchase law including some consumer law - Marketing law - Company Law - Law of damages - Claims law - Intellectual property law - and - Civil process law
- The contents of the course are based and limited to the course literature with extra material that will be used during lectures and as working material during the workshops.
Organisation
The course consists of lectures, work shops and exercises. The purpose of the lectures is that in unison with the course literature go through the basics in law, the contents of the legal areas and legal method. The textbook has also exercises and a legal collection that will be used as support during the lectures and the hand-in. Some lectures will contain exercises/discussions. The purpose of the workshops is do practical work and discuss legal problemsolving which includes interpretation, analysis and argumentationIt is expected from the students to prepare before lectures, exercises and workshops.
Material not connected to the textbook, will be provided at least a week before lecture, exercise or workshop.
