Aim
The aim of the course is to give an understanding of lean philosophy, lean leadership and what characterizes a lean organizational culture.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- explain concepts, strategies and principles of lean management- compare lean leadership with traditional leadership models
- explain daily kaizen and team work in a lean organisation
- explain hoshin kanri in a lean organisation
- explain how to perform a lean transformation process
- explain what characterizes a learning organization

Organisation
The course is based on lectures, seminars, a laboratory and a project. The seminars, laboratory and the project are compulsory and are used to strengthen the understanding of the materials presented during the lectures. Specialists, from academia and industry, will take part in the course. Further, the course contents are strongly related to industrial problems.Literature

Individual assignments and a group project constitute the bases for examination. Participation in course activities such as seminars, laboratory and project presentation are compulsory.The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
