Course specific prerequisites

Prospective students need to be registered on the Master s Programme in Quality and Operations Management, which involves having completed the following: Basic course in economy (7.5 ECTS) Basic course in management/organisation (7.5 ECTS)

Aim

The main aim of the course is to further develop students knowledge of how to design, manage and improve operations processes.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Know how to use operations strategy as a guidance for the organization's operational activities 
- Be encouraged to think analytically about operations processes, through having acquired knowledge of a number of organizing theories, frameworks and analytical devices used by companies 
- Know the impact of operations on sustainability and how operations can contribute to a sustainable society 
- Know how new possibilities with digitalisation, in the context of Industry 4.0, may influence operations
- Have acquired a number of conceptual tools for enhancing the performance of operations processes 
- Be able to apply these tools to the analysis of operations processes 
- Understand the context of when and how to apply the different tools
