SJM005 Terrestrial navigation and seamanship

Aim

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge of and skills in handling radar, ARPA and AIS features to avoid collisions.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

1 Understand the International collision regulations (COLREG)
2 Apply the International collision regulations by identify, analyze and act in traffic situations
Describe and compare information from visual and radar observations
4 Describe ARPA and/or Target Tracking functions and its limitations
5 Evaluate radar targets in relative and true motion
