Aim
The course aim is to facilitate further studies in Shipping economics through a smaller project.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Acquire and apply advanced knowledge within the subject of maritime economics/logistics.- with a holistic approach independently identify, formulate and manage issues and analyze and evaluate them on a deeper level in the subject of the maritime economics including UN's sustainable development goals 8.
- Independently plan and, using appropriate methods, analyzing and evaluating data within a given framework with a theoretically and methodologically sound reasoning.
- Identify appropriate, apply and critically evaluate methods in relation to a chosen scientific question in the subject maritime economics
- Presenting orally and in writing, for the given target group, discuss information, problems and solutions with the highest standards of structure, formality and language.
Content
The course consists of lecture in methodology, explanation of writing directions, criteria for evaluation and tutoring abt 10 hrs/student.The student independently writes a B-level essay in the subject of maritime economy.
Subject to be approved by examiner.
Written and oral presentation, as well as opposition in a seminar.

Examination including compulsory elements
Written B-level essay.Oral presentation and opposition.
The essay should follow the department guidelines for writing and grading degree project as laid out at Department of Shipping and Marine Technology. Writing guidlines and grading documents are available in Swedish only.
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
