Aim

The aim of the course is to provide training and education in operational aspects of the human element, leadership and management at management level. By applying bridge procedural training for bridge procedures, the students should develop their technical and none technical skills in normal and critical situations with an related perspective to selected profile.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

General for all profiles

(L1) Understand bridge team work, communication and procedures in normal and critical situations
(L2) Apply risk assessment techniques for normal shipboard tasks

Cruise specific

(L3) Apply bridge procedures, checklists and BRM tools in normal and critical situations, required on passenger/cruise vessels.
(L4) Apply passenger/cruise vessels specific voyage planning

Organisation

The course is divided into two parts, one general part for all profiles and that will focus on a deeper understanding of bridge team work, communication, voyage planning and risk assessment. The second part will contribute to a further understanding into more profile specific knowledge and skills in order to prepare the students for bridge team work.

The course will contain lectures, mandatory practical assignments and simulator exercises.
