Analysis in one and several dimensions.

Aim

To provide basic ideas of probability and statistics, and common tools and techniques for applications. Special emphasis is on models and methods used in Automation and Mechatronics Engineering.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

understand how random variations in data influence conclusions and decisions, and be able to use and apply the most common models and methods of statistics in their careers in engineering.

Content

Basic probability theory, random variables and their distributions, basic Monte Carlo methods, statistical inference, reliability theory and queuing theory.
