The specific entry requirements are the same as for the programme the course is taken within

Course specific prerequisites

The degree project may be commenced after successfully passed courses of 120 c. Credits from onboard training are not counted among these. In addition to the general credit requirement, the prerequisites required for the specific degree project must be completed. In the case of alternating theory and practice, at least 180 days of onboard training (half the total onboard training period) is also required.

Aim

The work is a vital part of education and an essential part of the quality assurance of the respective programs. The degree project must be approved before the work begins. The thesis is for students to develop advanced knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes in educational contexts. The thesis should be in the end of the training and gain a broad understanding and synthesis of previously acquired knowledge. The student will demonstrate the ability to critically and independently utilize, systematize and reflect on experiences and relevant research and thereby contribute to the development of the profession and the development of knowledge within the profession and education reflect character and demonstrate the ability to Occupational problem solving. The overall aim of the thesis is for students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to work independently in their professional profession.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Acquire and apply advanced knowledge in the field of the technology education program including awareness of ongoing development, - With use of a holistic approach independently identify, formulate and work with questions, together with analyze and evaluation of the questions at an advanced level within the subject/area, - Plan and, with the use of appropriate methods, analyze and evaluate data within the given framework and perform well formulated reasoning based on the used theory and method/s - Identify appropriate methods in relation to a specific scientific question, apply and critically evaluate the method/s - Use knowledge in a critical and systematical way and model, simulate, predict and evaluate different scenarios on the basis of relevant information - Within the topic of the specific thesis, identify issues regarding the role of technology in society with regard to environmental and ethical issues, and - Orally and in writing explain, for the given target group, discuss information, problems and solutions with the highest standards of structure, style and language and defend a scientific study. - Find and evaluate relevant sources for your chosen topic. - Understand academic integrity as source criticism, referencing and copy right.

Content

The main part of the degree project consists of a project. The student chooses the specialization topic by himself. To facilitate and support the project, information and communication skills are also included.

Organisation

Lectures, exercises, language tutorials and a seminar. The degree project is carried out in pairs, or in exceptional cases individually.

Examination including compulsory elements

For a thesis to be approved, the following: - Approved planning report - Approved mid seminar - Approved thesis report - Approved presentation and defense of the thesis - Approved oral and written opposition on another degree - Attendance at two other presentations - Approved in the sections on information and communication skills In order to pass the course required that all learning outcomes for the course are met. The thesis is graded in the scale 5/4/3/supplementing/fail. Failed work leads to a new topic must be selected and a new supervisor will be appointed. The degree project's report is checked in a plagiarism tool.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
