The course aims to give the students an introduction to international logistics through the related subject areas of logistics, project management, shipping markets and sustainability. Furthermore, the course will give an introduction to the program's communication thread. The course should also provide students with an introduction to the programme International logistics and prepare students for upcoming courses and for university level studies.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
Module A: Logistics
- Describe a logistics system from multiple perspectives (actors, processes, functions, components)
- Describe the specific characteristics of the different traffic types
- Understand the roles and functions of different actors/stakeholders
- Explain fundamental logistics concepts
- Understand the link between logistics and profitability
Module B: Project management
- Describe fundamental project management concepts
- Use relevant project management tools (scheduling and resource management)
- Describe, and solve, basic management problems in projects using appropriate literature
- Describe fundamental project management concepts
