Aim

The aim of the course is to give an introduction to the Swedish legal system and to give basic knowledge in order to apply legal methods and assessments and to write reports within the areas of company law, contract law, sale of goods law, tort law and employment law and also to apply customs regulations.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

  • Show basic knowledge of the Swedish legal system, it's structure and division
  • Apply basic legal method
  • Differentiate between civil law and public law
  • Interpret and apply rules of law and to write reports in relation to:
    • company law
    • contract law
    • sales of goods law
    •  tort law
  •  Apply customs regulations and classification of goods

Organisation

Lectures
Introduction and guest lectures have mandatory presence. The aim of the lectures is to explain concepts, exemplify situations and to review and discuss court cases, texts of agreements and clauses.

Literature studies
Students are encouraged to read before each lecture in the course description given literature.

Study questions
For each area there are study questions which largely reflects the learning outcomes of the course and are designed in a similar way to exam questions.

Assignments
Written assignments in PM-form made in groups of 2-3 students depending on number of students in the class.

Digital written examination.

The course is examined by the assignments (Part A) and a digital exam (Part B).

The course grade is based on the result of final exam (Part B)
