The course aims to provide general knowledge of the Swedish legal system and the most important legal institutions. The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge and skills in the field of commercial law, contract law, Swedish and international purchasing law, damages law, as well as an brief overview of EU law. A further aim is to train the students in report writing and to apply legal methods.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Prove basic knowledge of the Swedish legal system, it's structure and division. - Prove knowledge of legal sources and their rank - Apply basic legal method - Interpret and apply rules of law in relation to contract- and sales of goods law. - Judge negligence and liability in tort law. - Account for the main institutions in EU and their functions and the main EU-legislation. - Show basic knowledge on customs regulations and classification of goodsContent

Organisation
LecturesIntroduction and guest lectures have mandatory presence. The aim of the lectures is to explain concepts, exemplify situations and to review and discuss court cases, texts of agreements and clauses.
Literature studies
Students are encouraged to read before each lecture in the course description given literature.
Study questions
For each area there are study questions which largely reflects the learning outcomes of the course and are designed in a similar way to exam questions.

Written assignments in PM-form made in groups of 2-3 students depending on number of students in the class.

The course is examined by the assignments (Part A) and a digital exam (Part B).
Each part is graded with F/3/4/5. The grade of the assignments (Part A) constitute the main grounds for the final grade. If a student is close to achieving another grade on the assignments, a higher grade on the digital exam (Part B) may raise final grade by one step.
