Aim

The course aims at giving participants knowledge and understanding about initiation, planning, management and implementation of projects. The course take it starting point in the importance of effective communication- and management of information between project managers, clients, decision makers, employees, subcontractors and stakeholders in projects. The course emphasizes the importance of the project leader role, project management and dynamics within the project group. In the course, participants will have the opportunity to experience the dynamics, leadership and participation in projects which include unforeseen events within a mandatory/compulsory workshop. The purpose of the workshop is also to promote critical thinking and reflection on the project management process as well as own performance among course participants.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- describe and explain the structure of the project life cycle and distinguish the characteristics of each phase - critically evaluate the concepts and theories studied - use and evaluate different management tools that aim to integrate and control the activities and decision-making throughout the project life cycle - consider and review the conditions for effective teamwork in order to deliver projects successfully - assess requirements of information and documentation in projects, and identify the communicative aspects of project work

- Organizing and managing projects from inception to completion - Planning projects in relation to time, cost, quality and performance requirements - Techniques and methods used in of time, quality, cost and performance control in projects - Stakeholder identification and analysis - Project Risk Management and Analysis - Project workshop - Project Management systems
