Aim
The course is designed to give knowledge of fundamental technical concepts of importance in marine science and related engineering.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Understand and analyze basic mechanics problems- Implement basic calculations in the above areas.
- After completing the course, students should have a basic knowledge of how the forces and moments creates tension, as well as the tensions that may be allowed.
- The student must also have knowledge of how tensions are linked to deformations in the body. This includes knowledge of materials related to simple type material.
- Calculate simple load cases.

Organisation
The course consists of 56 hours of the scheduled lecture and exercise. Other time (144 hours for the normal student) is expected to be spent on own study and examination.28 hours räknestuga are scheduled. During these hours, the student can practice counting independently and teachers are available to answer questions.
No compulsory modules included. The course ends with a written exam.
