Course specific prerequisites

The course may be commenced after successfully passed courses of 90 higher education credits (1 hec = 1 ECTS-credit) within TIKEL. The project's scheme must be approved by the examiner before registration and before the work is started.

Aim

Apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills in an engineering environment, and learn how a company works with business intelligence, ethics, sustainability, safety and working environment.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Develop the ability to establish professional contacts with companies/organizations and to market own competence and skills.

- Attain practical understanding of how companies/organizations are organized and how they work concerning business intelligence, ethics, sustainability, safety and working environment.

- Apply theoretical and practical knowledge in chemistry and chemical engineering and reflect on the relationship between theoretical studies and professional life.

- Show competence in using basic oral and written communication skills.

Content

8 weeks internship in a company/organization approved by the examiner.

Organisation

The student contacts a company/organization to achieve an internship.

Examination including compulsory elements

The examination is oral, written and based on approved attendance during the internship, and consists of the following parts:

- Written weekly reports
- Written final Report
- Oral presentation
- Approved attendance (at least 80% during the internship )

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
