BOM265 Building technologyAim
The course should provide basic knowledge of HVAC design, on a system level as well as on a detailed level. It includes the design and dimensioning of systems for heating, cooling, air conditioning, ventilation, tap water and waste water. The course aims to provide an overarching understanding of the needs for these systems and how they operate in practical applications, based on theoretical fundamentals. The course will be carried out as a group design project, supported by teachers and consultants, thus providing an insight in the work procedure regarding necessary choices, design and dimensioning of required systems.
Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Explain and be able to participate in the design and building process from a building service engineering perspective.
- Explain and understand the consequences of various demands on indoor climate and work environmental climate regarding required technical systems and resulting operational energy use.
- Suggest and describe principles for appropriate choices of HVAC systems based upon formulated demands on the indoor climate.
- Dimensioning calculation of HVAC systems as well as systems for tap water and waste water.
- Explain the principles of control systems together with systems for supervision in practice.
- Performing measurements of temperature and flows together with analysis of the results.
