Specific entry requirements

The same as for the programme that owns the course.
Applicants enrolled in a programme at Chalmers where the course is included in the study programme are exempted from fulfilling the requirements above.

Course specific prerequisites

Basic skills in modeling, visualization, and graphic communication corresponding to the course ARK093 Digital tools.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Describe the basic concepts of parametric design - Demonstrate skills in a variety of digital tools for parametric design of geometries. Examples of computer programs: Rhino and Grasshopper - Demonstrate skills in different technologies for digital fabrication. Examples of digitally controlled machines: laser cutters and 3D printers - Reflect on the own creative process, especially regarding to different forms of representation and the and different transformations the geometry is undergoing

Content

Digital 3D modeling through programming
Digitally controlled manufacturing of physical models
Presentation and exhibition of manufactured models and their creation process

Organisation

The course consists of lectures, exercises, and demonstrations that in a worhshop-like approach will guide the student to a final submission. The setup requires continuous presence.

Examination including compulsory elements

För godkänd kurs krävs aktiv medverkan i övningar och laborationer, godkänd slutpresentation samt godkänd portföljredovisning med en reflekterad sammanfatting av resultat och process.
