Course specific prerequisites

At least 90 hp from courses in Architetcture, Architecture and engineering, or Civil Engineering.

Aim

To develop knowledge, skills and sensibility for the use of different materials in architecture.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Refer to the actual material and its use in architecture and engineering. - Present knowledge of material manufacturing, properties and processing - Show examples of completed studies / experiments with the material - Reflect upon and draw conclusions from completed studies / experiments

Content

The material in architecture and engineering, historically and in the present Production Material properties Analytical methods for different functions Processing of the material Material species and types Investigations of applications of the material

Organisation

Lectures, literature studies, field trips, laboratory exercises and exploratory studies of the material. Choice of material varies from year to year.

Examination including compulsory elements

Almost 100% attendance at all course activities. Reporting of completed projects. Written tests may occur.
