Aim
The course aims to give the student the ability to handle a design methodology which handles energy efficient solutions, comfortable indoor climate and a building technology in progress. The student shall also be able to work towards high quality engineering in a building project on the larger scale as well as in detail.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
With a new or advanced building technology problem/theme
as a starting point, the students shall after completed course be able to:
- Describe the field of the problem after introduction lectures
- Produce a comprehensive sustainable design of a building integrating building
technology, energy efficiency and technical systems for comfortable indoor
climate.
- Compile the proposal in an exhibition consisting of correct drawings in
scales describing both overall design and technically advanced details
- Describe, motivate, evaluate and discuss the proposal as well as the proposal
of fellow students as part of a final exhibition with critics from both Chalmers
and the practice.
Content
Constructing a building with building components and details is a capability which is the result of practical training. Working with details where technical and esthetical perspectives merge is emphasized in this course. The process reaches from rough sketches to precise formal drawings. A voluntary study trip to Austria seeks to widen the perspectives in the field of building technology.

There is no exam in the
course.
To pass the course it is necessary to hand in a passed project and to be
present at all lectures, study visits, the final exhibition, introductions and
reviews, The projects are graded fail, 3, 4 and 5.
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
