Aim
The course aims to give students an overall picture of a refurbishment projects different stages such as investigation and design stage (product design). The student may suggest the operation and maintenance (management process) and refurbishment (production), and declare it as an important part of the life cycle process of a building.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Describe and use concepts of refurbishment process based on Bygghandlingar 90.- Explain and describe the property management requirements for the design and archive documents.
- List and analyse a refurbishment project conditions and compile it in an investigation.
- Propose a solution to the brief based on refurbishment project conditions.
- Develop their skills with regard to drawing, report writing and oral presentation.
- Describe, argue, evaluate own and others' proposals.
- Identify and describe the operation and maintenance needs of a building or facility.
- Give examples of how the operation and maintenance work can be organized.
- Explain and select the appropriate methods for the inspection and control of buildings or facilities.
- Explain and select the appropriate methods of operation and maintenance measures .
- Design a proposal for a maintenance plan on a specific project and present it in the form of a technical report.
- Set up a budget for maintenance plan and present the costs related to operation and maintenance activities.
Content
In addition to the usual construction process will be specifically for refurbishment to measure and inventory of part of a building as well as documenting the building's technical, historical and environmental values. Important is that the student can understand the Bygghandlingar 90's way of handling refurbishment and the Swedish Standard, as well as use of the framework and regulations that apply regarding refurbishment.Basic conditions for the maintenance of buildings which includes definitions and concepts within the subject is introduced. Study of a building with respect to operations and maintenance, and the students get a walking lecture of how an inspection of a building is done. Then, the students themselves a visual inspection of an assigned building and establish a computer-based maintenance plan. A technical report prepared in which the building is described and proposed a maintenance plan reported.
