Aim

This course aims to help students from the second year of the undergraduate program to develop their expertise in various architectural issues and digital skills through collaboration. The purpose is also to inspire creativity and a passion for experimentation, and to train students in working in groups. The course has a theme: Students use digital and manual tools and methods in a design process to explore, manipulate, and materialize transformations of objects and spaces.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Present conclusions and results from their studies of the course themes using digital and manual tools and methods.
- Test working with experimental combinations of digital tools and methods.
- Analyze and generate perspectives on the theme of the course.
- Plan, execute, and present a group study.
- Analyze their own role in the creative process of the group, particularly in light of their current year and their past studies.

Content

The different themes of the course are addressed in lectures, reading, seminars, and practical exercises. Students are divided into groups. The course concludes with each group presenting proposals for solutions for an assignment within the framework of the theme.

Organisation

The course is planned and led by a teaching team. The teaching team is responsible for the organization and content of the course. Students are divided into work groups that include participants from the two first academic years. All students will work with both course themes. The student groups are given individual guidance during the course.

Literature

A reading list will be provided at the start of the course.

Examination including compulsory elements

The course is planned and led by a teaching team. The teaching team is responsible for the organization and content of the course. Students are divided into groups . The student groups are given individual tutoring during the course.

A student who is not approved in the course after the regular examination must be given the opportunity to be examined through supplementation after the end of the course if the examiner considers it feasible. If, after two attempts at completion, the student still cannot be approved, the student must retake the course. Assessment of completions takes place during Chalmers' re-examination periods. It is the student's responsibility to check reported study results in Ladok after each study period and to contact the course examiner for instructions on supplementation if an approved result is missing.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
