Course specific prerequisites

ARK695 Digital tools - parametric design, or corresponding knowledge

Aim

The course investigates the potentials and limits of the virtual tools of an architect.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- Demonstrate skills in using digital models as tools for exploring architecture.
- Reflect upon strentgh and weakness of digital tools when used in a design process.

Content

Programming in C# or corresponding program. 
Parametric design in Grasshopper or corresponding program.

Organisation

The course will be organized around labs, workshops, lectures and seminars. The students are expected to develop their ideas and proposals in scripting and designing.

Examination including compulsory elements

To pass requires almost 100% active participation in lectures, laboratory work, seminars and criticism as well as reported and approved models.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
