Course specific prerequisites

Basic skills in modeling, visualization, and graphic communication corresponding to the course ARK093 Digital tools.

Aim

The aim of the course is to develop the student's ability to build 3D models of buildings with the use of digital BIM tools and methods.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- demonstrate skills in digital BIM tools for creating 3D models of buildings. - demonstrate basic understanding of BIM in working life. - apply a BIM model for simple simulations and analyzes - reflect on the interaction of various modeling and visualization tools with the architect's design process and how they affect the result.

Content

The course consist of two parts. In the first part a BIM-model is created. In the second part this BIM-model is used for different types of analyses and studies, for example energy consumption and accessibility.

Organisation

- tutored lessons in digital 3D modeling - lectures on BIM - exercises with analyzes and tests of the built model - presentation and discussions of the results

Examination including compulsory elements

For the grade approved, participation in exercises and submitted and approved exercises are required.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
