Course specific prerequisites

Basic knowledge of sketching and drawing by hand from the course Space and man, or corresponding.

Aim

The purpose of the course is to introduce and train some basic digital tools and methods for 2D-drawing, 3D-modeling, image editing, and layout, and by using them create awareness of different forms of representation as means to communicate and to operate a desingprocess forward.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

  • Use digital tools to produce 2D drawings.
  • Use digital tools to produce 3D models.
  • Use digital tools to produce and visualize advanced 3D geometry.
  • Apply digital tools for image editing and graphic communication.
  • Reflect upon the role of used tools in the own creative process.

Organisation

The course contains of lectures and exercises that gives basic knowledge in digital and physical tools for sketching and drawing. The tools are applied in small architectural desing tasks.

Examination including compulsory elements

Passing the course requires active participation in exercises and laboratory work, and approved assignments.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
