Aim

The participants in this 2-credit course work according to a determined study schedule, which takes up various aspects of sketching a live model. To attempt to find the connection between a study of the human body at rest and in motion in relationship to the surrounding room and the nature of architectural form. By means of studying the human body devote thought to how humans act within architectural space.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

Content

The course is comprised of 16 three-hour studio sessions employing a life-model and includes the following components: 1. Anatomy - lecture, demonstration and exercise, 2x3 hours 2. The artistic tradition within figure drawing, 3 hours 3. Figure in space, 2x3 hours 4. Figure in motion, 2x3 hours 5. Life drawing, line drawing, 2x3 hours 6. Form drawing - light and shadow, 2x3 hours 7. The creation of atmospheres. The course is concluded with an exercise where the individual participants gather their drawings together in the form of a thematic account of the content of the course. This compilation serves to provide material for a mutual exhibition.

Examination including compulsory elements

In order to pass the course examination presence at every studio session and completed and approved studio work is required, in addition to active participation at the final presentation. If the result is not considered as a pass in the course, then supplementation must be completed in accordance to written instructions and assessed in the next subsequent re-examination period. If this primary supplementation does not result in a pass and further supplementation is then required, this will also be notified in writing. This secondary supplementation will be assessed in the subsequent re-examination period. If the additions are then not deemed sufficient for passing the course, the course should be retaken.
