Aim

To train the basics of CAD that is included in the obligatory teaching and to learn the standards that exist regarding how a construction drawing is made clear and informative with the aid of CAD.

Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)

- apply CAD and show knowledge that exist regarding how a construction drawing is made clear and informative with the aid of CAD.

Content

Drawing exercises using CAD (Computer Aided Design) where standards are to be applied in order to draw up clear and correct plans. The exercises deal mainly with building design.
Alternative assignments can be discussed
Among that which is taken up the following can be mentioned: width of lines, characteristics of lines, littering, height of texts, goals, principals for sections and cuts, shading and symbols.

Organisation

The course begins with a brief introduction about tools and methods for drawing a building. After that, the student works individually or in pairs to design a building. The assignments is drawings and, if applicable a model.

Examination including compulsory elements

In order to pass the course examination presence at the lectures and exercises and completed and approved studio work is required. If the result is not considered as a pass in the course, then supplementation must be completed in accordance to written instructions and assessed in the next subsequent re-examination period. If this primary supplementation does not result in a pass and further supplementation is then required, this will also be notified in writing. This secondary supplementation will be assessed in the subsequent re-examination period. If the additions are then not deemed sufficient for passing the course, the course should be retaken.

The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
