Course specific prerequisites
Ongoing studies at Chalmers Program TKATK, Architecture and Engineering, at least 150 ECTS credits reported in the program, and a registration on the bachelor thesis course.Aim
The aim of the course is to conduct an architectural or engineering internship of minimum of 6 months and during the internship study and reflect upon: - The implementation of architecture/engineering design projects at an architecture/engineering office, and in particular how its questions and challenges have been addressed, processed, reformulated and communicated to clients, stakeholders and collaborative partners. - The sketch process in general, from early meetings with client / architect to final proposal. - Specific methods and tools used as support in the architectural / engineering work.Learning outcomes (after completion of the course the student should be able to)
- Refer to the own planning and implementation of at least one explorative design process.
- Reflect on and draw conclusions around own work and impact on this/these projects.
Content
At least 6 months internship.
Seminar with reflections on the internship and linked to the course learning outcomes.
Essay according to special instructions.
Organisation
Registration on the course is by notification to the examiner in connection to the implementation of the internship. An agreement between the student and the examiner is also made in order to confirm that the type of internship is relevant and therefore approved for the course. After completion the internship is reported at a seminar and in a written report.
Examination including compulsory elements
For approval required: A certificate showing a coherent and approved type of internship for at least 6 months, an approved oral presentation, and an approved essay according to specific instructions. The essay may be in Swedish or English and must be approved by the workplace for publication.
The course examiner may assess individual students in other ways than what is stated above if there are special reasons for doing so, for example if a student has a decision from Chalmers on educational support due to disability.
