Aim

The course is an introduction to room and building acoustics. Room acoustics deal with the acoustic characteristics of spaces and the interacting human experiences of sound, as well as how functional demands can be formulated for different sound environments. Building acoustics deal with external noise, how building design concepts can be used to prevent the spread of noise, as well as functional demands for soundproofing. The course provides basic concepts, relationships and analytical methods with the overall aim of providing tools for making acoustic assessments and design choices in the early stages of an architects and/or engineers design process.
