Abstract: 
In this project, the focus has been on developing a concept for transferring rotational motion from a tube motor to different roller shutter tubes for a company that wants to enter the roller shutter market. In the project, the market has been analysed, and data has been collected regarding tubes, adaptors, and motor drive axles. The gathered data were based on literature studies and interviews with market experts. The knowledge about the market and data collected were used to develop a final solution.
The final solution consisted of two different kinds of adaptor solutions that both are mounted and connected to the drive axle of the tube motor. The first solution is named Multi socket and is based on utilising different sockets that extend the diameter of the adaptor to fit different sizes of tubes. The second solution was named the Adaptor solution and is based on converting the existing drive axle interface to match a competitor’s drive axle interface. This allows to utilise of the competitor’s own developed adaptors to be mounted on the tube motor.
The project resulted in two solid solutions that cover many tubes on the market. Since this is a new market for the company, the recommendation is to continue with these two solutions and enter the market to begin with. The two developed solutions need further development before introduction on the market, especially in the field of designing for manufacturing.

"Design and Optimization of Trailer Chassis with Electric Driveline"
Abstract: Reducing the climate footprint has globally become increasingly important and many companies are trying to address it. Volvo Group aims to reduce emissions per vehicle by 40% by 2030. Trucks account for a significant portion of the modern transportation system, therefore, the development of trucks and trailers is becoming increasingly important. A new regulation in Sweden allows High Capacity Transport (HCT) which reduces carbon emissions. In addition, Volvo GTT is investigating new technologies such as the electrically powered semi-trailers, known as the e-trailer. When compared to conventional semi-trailers, the e-trailer has the potential to increase fuel consumption by 5-20%. 
The purpose of this project is to develop and optimize a third generation of the e-trailer. This includes determining the necessary requirements for the design and development of the chassis  utilizing existing Volvo components. Additionally, Hammar Maskin AB, who will build the prototype, has to adapt its chassis to Volvo GTT's existing components. 
The methodology employed is based on design thinking and is divided into four interactive steps. The first phase, theoretical framework, includes gathering information about the e-trailer and knowledge in  related areas. Secondly, identification phase, encompasses understanding what is on the market today and what the customer's requirements are. The subsequent, development phase, contains the entire development process and the tools utilized. Lastly, finalization, presents the final concept in detail. 
The final concept of the e-trailer is a semi-trailer with a single chassis. The chassis has Hammar Maskin AB's dimensions in front of the gooseneck and Volvo GTT's dimensions behind it resulting in a chassis that is curved and gets wider at the back. The cross-section of the chassis is an I-shaped with cut-outs for the components. The mounting of some components has been modified and some have been replaced. 
In conclusion, the project has generated an e-trailer that meets customer requirements. Hammar Maskin AB's chassis was able to adapt to Volvo GTT's components and it was feasible to develop a single chassis. A few further recommendations are to analyze the placement of some components and calculate the weight. Additionally, for future generations, simplify the chassis so it becomes suitable for mass production.

"Improvement of Final Demand Data Flow at Polestar"
Abstract: Geometric variations in visible components, despite modern manufacturing precision, can detract significantly from a vehicle’s functionality and perceived quality. Geometry assurance is crucial for managing these variations by ensuring high product quality and robustness through assigning tolerances. Moreover, efficient data management plays a significant role in geometry assurance, facilitating the necessary exchange of information across various stages of the product realization loop. This thesis focuses on optimizing the data flow and management of final demand data within the geometry assurance process at Polestar, a Swedish automotive company specializing in the production of electric vehicles.
This master’s thesis aimed at mapping the current geometry assurance process at Polestar, and by identifying and mitigating inefficiencies, propose improvements for enhancing data quality and process performance. The scope of the study is limited to the geometry assurance process, focusing specifically on the transformation and management of final demand data throughout the distinct phases of the process. Through a literature study, interviews, a pilot study and the mapping of process activities, the current process was studied in detail. The findings reveal significant inefficiencies in the current data flow and process approach. Data flow challenges were predominantly associated with compromised data integrity, as a result of the manual steps involved in data transformation and the propagation of errors due to lack of integration between software tools. Further, the mapping of the current process outlined an approach that often lacks clarity and a solid ground.
The proposed enhancements include the implementation of an API that enables automated data transfer, formatting and storing, eliminating errors associated with manual data exchange across departments and stages. It facilitates communication across three different software programs utilized in different phases of the geometry assurance process, ensuring that the demand data is linked. Through this, data flow efficiency is significantly enhanced and data quality is improved. Further, suggestions intended to optimize the overall performance of the process include implementing standardized work routines and optimizing time management practices. The suggested improvements not only address immediate inefficiencies but also lay a foundation for continuous improvement in data management practices within the company.

"Optimizing of product configuration processes"
Abstract: This thesis investigates the implementation of a new product configuration process and the key factors that determine the success of the new process. Through data collection methods and several analyses of the collected data, five key aspects were identified: Standardization of formats and processes, Streamlining data flow, Enhanced version control, Minimizing human errors, and Adapting to systems and external parties.
Comprehensive analyses revealed that standardization and streamlining significantly improve efficiency and reduce errors. The practical implementation of a new IT system within the configuration process at the collaborative company Polestar underscored the importance of establishing clear templates and workflows to enhance consistency and ease of use. Streamlining data flow through automated notifications and system integration minimized delays and gaps, increasing visibility and accountability. Enhanced version control systems facilitated accurate tracking of document revisions, promoting transparency and compliance for external and internal audits and regulations. Minimizing human errors involved automating repetitive tasks and implementing validation checks, improving accuracy and efficiency. Adapting to systems and external parties emphasized the importance of collaboration and alignment to ensure seamless data exchange. These findings align with the Lean methodology, which emphasizes continuous improvement and customer-centricity.
Analyses conducted in this project provided a profound understanding of data flow dynamics, overcoming challenges associated with stakeholder comprehension. Initial visual mapping clarified data flow, while subsequent process and information models offered nuanced insights into process dynamics and data integration, empowering stakeholders to identify areas for improvement. This clarity facilitated collaborative efforts, evident during the implementation of the new IT system with Polestar.
Moreover, the analysis of the new IT system underscored the significance of "Minimizing Human Errors" and "Enhanced Version Control" in mitigating information loss. Automated change logs and dedicated SharePoint folders streamlined document tracking, reducing errors and enhancing efficiency and compliance with regulations. Prioritizing these factors led to a smoother configuration process, minimizing information loss and enhancing user accountability.
Further research is recommended to validate these findings across diverse companies beyond Polestar, confirming the effectiveness of the identified framework in various industries. Additionally, refining the developed IT system to address bugs and expand its coverage within the configuration process could enhance its performance. Exploring the optimal configuration process structure, whether a single supersystem or multiple subsystems, would be valuable for future investigation, offering insights into associated benefits and challenges.

"Driver Visibility Experience and the Influence of Support Systems"
Abstract: As modern cars are released more and more support systems, such as rear camera and 360° cameras, are introduced. In parallel the designs evolve to reflect current trends in interior and exterior design. However, as the designs evolve the direct visibility, what can be seen through the windows of the car, also changes. How can one evaluate both the subjective preferences and objective use of support systems in combination with varying designs? And can one understand how factors such as confidence and satisfaction are influenced by support systems?
This master thesis covers the development of an evaluation method called VROOM uncovering the influence of support systems in parking scenarios. The method to develop VROOM is described and followed by results found from performing the evaluation during a user study. One aspect of the results illustrates different glancing behaviours that occur depending on the availability of support systems by utilising eye tracking. 
Furthermore, the master thesis covers subjective opinions of satisfaction with the visibility in two separate cars as well as how confidence and perceived ease are affected by access to support systems when parking. Statistics regarding the collected opinions from the user study are presented which exemplify how important the support systems are for increased customer value from a visibility point of view. Especially some support systems prove vital for increasing customer satisfaction as the user study shows that certain support systems improve customer satisfaction more than others.

"Modular Fish Ladder for Small-Scale Hydropower Plants in Sweden"
Abstract: To address the challenges faced by small-scale hydroelectric power plants in Sweden, a product development project was initiated focusing on modular fish passages. Grounded in a fundamental spiral-shaped principle, the project aimed to create modules that met the identified needs and requirements of various stakeholders.
This thesis resulted in three distinct design solutions, carefully tailored to a specific scenario, with both material selection and user-centered design taken into account. Guided by an initial problem statement, the overarching themes of cost-effectiveness, adaptability in maintenance, and ecological sustainability have been a common thread throughout all aspects of the project.
Ultimately, the holistic approach upon which the project was built has sought to optimize design sustainability on a broader scale while simultaneously creating maximum value for the customer. The hope now is that small-scale power plants in the future will be able to utilize a design where their needs are met while allowing fish to pass through the facility and regain their natural migratory patterns.

"Thermo-Mechanical Integration of Waste Heat for Drying of Material During Milling"
Abstract: This thesis experimentally and theoretically investigated the integration of waste heat for drying of rock particles during milling, as well as the potential drying effect of heated airflows inside of Comminution Reimagined’s rock crushing mill. Pre-study tests indicate that a cost effective side effect, drying of the crushed particles, happens when heat is added to the air system that extracts fine particles. The drying of crushed particles is key in order to improve crushing performance and fines extraction.
Previous research has left several knowledge gaps, mainly in terms of how the drying effect can be controlled and predicted, i.e the drying parameters. 
We used experimental data and performed a broad literature study to gain an understanding of the drying effect and parameters. A conceptual design was created to illustrate a potential integration of the drying system for the current design of the rock crushing mill. 
Our findings indicate that integrating waste heat into the rock crushing mill can be done in an efficient way where the negative effects of moist rock particles inside of the rock crushing mill can be minimised.
