Chalmers University values democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights. The right to express opinions is fundamental, as is open debate in society. Last week, tents were set up outside the University of Gothenburg. Since Friday morning, there are also tents on the Chalmers campus, and a dialogue has been established with those camping.
Chalmers encourages engagement but does not take sides in political conflicts or foreign policy issues. It is natural for people to want to express anger and frustration, and for Chalmers, the power of young people's engagement in creating a better world is important.
The safety and work environment of students and staff are top priorities, and it is a significant task to create conditions for both safety and the right to express opinions. We share the dismay over the attacks affecting civilians and hope for a swift end to the human suffering.
