Teppo Heiskanen is the new Fundraising Director at Chalmers. The mission is to lead the fundraising work and contribute to realising Chalmers' vision of becoming a top European university.

Teppo Heiskanen comes most recently from Aalto University in Helsinki, where he held a similar position. With this recruitment, Chalmers is strengthening its work with fundraising, i.e. the collection of donations and gifts.

"This is a very important recruitment for Chalmers," says Sara Wallin, CEO of the Chalmers Foundation.

"Teppo Heiskanen has successfully built up Aalto's fundraising business over the past decade and now we look forward to him doing the same – but even better – here at Chalmers. I am convinced that his experience and drive will contribute to elevate our business.”

Fundraising is one of several approaches to free up funds for own, free base funding at Chalmers. With strengthened funding, the faculty will be given increased opportunities to conduct long-term, curiosity-driven research, a key factor in further increasing academic quality. The recruitment of Teppo Heiskanen is an important step on the way, according to Sara Wallin.

"I am really looking forward to coming to Chalmers, and to being involved and contributing to Chalmers becoming a world-class university. With my background and similar assignments at Aalto, I feel well equipped," says Teppo Heiskanen.

Teppo Heiskanen has been Fundraising Director since 2016 and since 2017 Head of the Advancement and Corporate Engagement Unit, responsible for fundraising. He has been a member of the Aalto University Management Team.

Prior to that, he worked with fundraising in his own company and worked for the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Teppo Heiskanen will be placed at the Chalmers Foundation.
