The profile area focuses on how to plan, build and manage urban and rural areas and their infrastructure face critical challenges in achieving inclusion, safety, resilience and sustainability.

Urbanisation and the green transition are intertwined with conflicts of interest and with short and long-term goals of living conditions that promote health and well-being. Climate adaptation of living areas as well as resilient infrastructure for water, energy and transport is essential. This must be achieved alongside providing affordable housing, accessible green areas, culturally inspiring living conditions and environmentally friendly transport solutions solving mobility demands..

The profile supports the development of knowledge and tools that encompass the multifunctional perspectives of infrastructure and urban planning. With such knowledge and tools, informed societal decisions can be made during the green transition and urbanisation processes, addressing both current and future challenges.
