AMES project

Air Mobility Emergency System

Aiming to integrate UAM vehicles into today's complex traffic environments, focusing on safety and effective communication

The goal is to understand how a UAM vehicle can fly autonomously in a safe manner in areas where there will be both autonomous ground traffic and manned traffic.

Researchers at Chalmers will create a flying prototype 1:1 scale with the flexibility to test different technologies within for example communications, software and propulsion systems.

Goals for safety

Ensure that the UAM vehicle can navigate independently in various scenarios, including avoidance maneuvers and route changes if requested by an air traffic controller.

Goals for communication

The vehicle should be able to communicate with other UAMs and manned aerial vehicles.
