Swedish National Data Service (SND) is a national research infrastructure that provides support and services for the management of research data. SND helps researchers make digital research data available and reusable, and offers guidance on data management throughout the research process.
SND’s services and support
SND provides both resources and expertise to:
- Find research data – by making high-quality research data available for reuse across various scientific fields.
- Describe, publish, and share data – researchers can use SND's services to describe and publish research data in a structured and standardized manner.
- Manage and preserve data – SND offers support for the long-term and sustainable management of research data, from collection to archiving.
SND's activities are a central part of the work to promote open science and ensure that publicly funded research data is made available "as openly as possible but as restricted as necessary." The funding comes primarily from the Swedish Research Council (VR) and a consortium of nine of Sweden's largest universities that govern SND. SND also brings together the majority of Sweden’s higher education institutions in a national network focused on open science issues.
Researchdata.se – A National Portal for Research Data
Researchdata.se is a national web portal where researchers can find, share, and reuse research data. The portal is operated by SND in collaboration with several other national research infrastructures. The purpose of Researchdata.se is to facilitate the search for and management of research data in a consistent manner, while also promoting better collaboration between researchers and research infrastructures.
Through Researchdata.se, researchers gain access to:
- An advanced search service for research data from multiple national and international sources.
- Tools and resources that support sustainable data management.
- A platform for collaboration, where research infrastructures and organizations can collaborate on open science.
