Starting December 2024, Chalmers will introduce a series of changes in order to raise sign-in security for students. These changes are partly due to the current global security situation and partly due to Chalmers – along with other Swedish seats of education – constantly striving to increase IT system security.

This section will describe current changes and instruct you as a student on what you need to do.

Planned changes

The following changes are planned:

  • Step 1 (Dec 2024 – Jan 2025): Increasing sign-in security by raising the trust level for the account you as a student use to sign in to the Chalmers systems.
  • Step 2 (Jan 2025 and later): Introduction of student sign-in using so-called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Microsoft cloud services, e.g. e-mail, Teams and OneDrive.

What you as a student need to do

No later than 19 December 2024, if you are a student with a Swedish personal identity number, you must raise the trust level for your user account. Else, you will not be permitted to register for 2025 spring semester courses in Ladok. If you're NOT in possession of a Swedish personal identity number, you won't need to do anything at the moment.

Further instructions on how to raise your trust level are available from the link below (sign-in needed):

Check that you have raised your trust level

Within 1-2 hours, you can verify that you have successfully raised your trust level by visiting the page: LADOK - Check SWAMID AL2 status

If it says that your user account is confirmed, you are done!

In 2025, additional actions to take will be introduced. Further instructions will follow.
