Our goal is to provide society and individuals with relevant knowledge through high-quality courses to contribute to skills development and adjustment. We offer continuing professional development in various forms: contract education, freestanding courses and massive open online courses (MOOCs).
Freestanding courses
Chalmers offers a number of freestanding courses that run at a distance. They are suitable, for example, for professionals in need of skills development, for the general public or for students who want to take a course alongside their education programme or instead of a summer job.
Contract education
Employers who want to give their employees an opportunity for skills development can do so by paying for contract education. Some courses can give higher education credits while others give diplomas/certificates.
Nautical supplementary training and open maritime courses
Courses from our ordinary range of education
If you have a degree from Chalmers or an academic degree from another university you can apply for courses that are part of our programmes. If you are accepted, you study on campus during daytime according to the regular schedule together with students who follow the programme. The courses give higher education credits and have prerequisites that must be met.
Open online courses
Chalmers provides open online courses both on our own platform and on the international platform edX. The courses are free and open to anyone to attend but may have recommended prior knowledge. You will not receive higher education credits. The courses are given at different times and with different registration times, and the offer thus varies during the year. You register directly on the platforms. You can often register on a short notice.
