We aspire to closely collaborate with the surrounding society. One of our main priorities is to transfer research results from the department to the general public, the industry and organizations. This is achieved through research collaborations undertaken with the industry, student visits, communication activities, participation in investigations and committees, as well as conferences and debates.
We also wish to increase interactions with the surrounding society including our former PhD students through the use of knowledge contexts, which we believe in a long term yield both good-will and research funding. In particular, we wish to enable the possibility for our members at the department to fulfill dreams, passions for physics and develop leadership skills and other generic skills with respect to innovations.
The department has a great commitment to spreading our knowledge of physics in society. We do so by participation in Gothenburg’s Science Festival and the AHA festival. We are involved in the Gothenburg Physics Centre, a collaboration platform between four physics-oriented departments at Chalmers and University of Gothenburg. The centre's overall goal is to promote the subject of physics in Gothenburg through a range of different activities. One of them is the activity Fysiklek, which is aimed at students from elementary school and upper secondary school.
