The Marine Structures research area is fundamental to the development and maintenance of ships and offshore structures.
At Marine Structures we work with the design of the structure and methods to analyse fatigue and need for maintenance of ships and off-shore structures. The division has a long history, as well as international recognition, of both fundamental and applied research in this area. This involves creating lighter ships and thereby reducing the environmental impact, and developing ship structures to better withstand grounding and collisions. We work with analysis methods to better predict failure in different environmental conditions; this concerns both ships as well as off-shore structures and its cables and mooring lines.
