The Energy Conversion and Propulsion Systems (ECaPS) division has over decades built up world-class expertise in internal combustion engine research and internal combustion engines. For several years, the focus has been on renewable fuels, today it's primarily on hydrogen engines. In the research area of internal combustion engines, we conduct research on engine systems, design and parameter optimization, combustion, emissions and hydrogen jets. Within the area, there are several collaborations with industry, mainly with Volvo Trucks, Volvo Penta, Scania and Johnson Matthey, among others.
