This theme described research that explores writing in doctoral education, both within and beyond academic settings.
This work aims to investigate the development of writing expertise across academic and professional contexts, and the type of challenges tied to transitions to and from academia, for instance for industrial and professional doctoral students and junior researchers. For example, we examine topics such as transfer across genres, and the development of learning tasks that promote this transfer, and explore science communication practices in writing (i.e. the kind of writing scientists produce for readers beyond academia. In this theme, we collaborate with colleagues at international universities with established doctoral education programs with a close collaboration with professional and industrial stakeholders.
