Materials Chemistry

We conduct research focusing on environment and energy. Our research covers a wide range of topics. In collaboration with different competences in the division, we take on different challenges for a sustainable society. The research is performed in collaboration with other academic partners and companies, both nationally and internationally.

Our areas of competence

  • Inorganic synthesis/ structural chemistry
  • Theoretical chemistry
  • High temperature corrosion
  • Atmospheric corrosion
  • Combustion chemistry
  • Heavy metals in the environment
  • Structure and dynamics in functional oxides

Example of important applications

  • Fuel cells
  • Green electricity
  • Combustion of biomass
  • Materials for very high temperatures
  • Light materials for vehicles
  • CO2 capture ( Chemical-Looping Combustion)
  • Material challenges in nuclear power plants
  • Mercury in the environment
