The Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg invite you to a lecture by one of this year's Nobel Laureates in Economics, Professor Simon Johnson, MIT Sloan, on Saturday 14 December.
The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2024 is about why some countries are rich and others are poor. By studying the different political and economic systems introduced by Europeans in their colonies from the 16th century onwards, Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson have been able to demonstrate a link between social institutions and prosperity. They have also developed theoretical tools that can explain why differences in institutions persist and how institutions can change
The talk is open to all and free of charge, but you must register. You are welcome to attend!
