Preparing Professionals to Work with Communities: Interrogating Higher Education Practices in Sweden

Short description of presentation

During this presentation, we will discuss three things: notion of “community”; if and how professionals work with communities of different kinds, and if and how higher education prepares professionals to work with communities.

The session will run in two parts. In the first part, Amoni will present the focus and preliminary insights from his current doctoral research around higher professional education and community (specifically, teacher education). In the second part, participants will discuss their understanding of the notion of community, how it relates with their professional work, and if and how higher education provides some preparatory grounding for the intersection between professional work and communities.
