We have invited 3 amazing speakers who have used their entrepreneurship as a power to pay it forward. Jonas Karles (co-founder of Devotion Ventures), Emelie Meurk Demerud (Founder Hedylity Technology) and Lennart Grebelius (Owner Sätila Holding) will talk about how they through their entrepreneurship have not only built big successful companies but at the same time also giving back to society.
We are going to learn why this is so important to them and how can they inspire others to do the same. They will also talk about how they ended up where they are today and what their future holds. Jonas and Emelie are both Elmuni from Chalmers School of Entrepreneurships so we are happy to welcome them back to where they started their journey.
About the speakers
Lennart Grebelius, Owner Sätilda Holding
Lennart started working in the family business Nilssons Trikåfabrik AB (now Sätila of Sweden) in 1974 and took over as CEO in 1985. After the financial crisis in the early 1990s, he started investing in properties in Gothenburg and Stockholm and later also in London. The assets amount to just over one billion SEK. He also runs a wholly owned venture capital company with approximately SEK 500 million in capital under management. Lennart has been involved since the start of the street newspaper Faktum, which is sold by the homeless and people in social exclusion. The newspaper started in Gothenburg in 2001 and is today in seven more cities in southern Sweden. In 2009, the company Mitt Liv was started, with the aim of helping and integrating immigrants into Swedish society through professional contacts and networks, which leads to employment. Lennart Grebelius contributed start-up capital and sits on the board of the company, which has operations in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Malmö and Norrköping.
Emelie Meurk Demerud, Founder Hedylity Technology
Emelie Meurk Demerud felt that she was an entrepreneur already at a young age. Today, she has started Hedylity Technology, which creates successful digitization journeys and Deb. who work to create diversity in boards. She will, among other things, talk about why she became interested in creating tech companies, about how companies can work with sustainability and innovation.
Jonas Karles, Co-founder Devotion Ventures
Jonas is the co-founder of Devotion Ventures, a start-up fund that invests in early B2B SAAS founders in Europe who can make a clear positive impact on the world. He previously led the team at Minna Technologies, a fintech backed by Visa Ventures and Element Ventures. During his time there, he scaled the company to over 75 employees in over 10 markets while maintaining high productivity. With experience in change management, OKRs, KPIs and other growth methodologies, Jonas brings a wealth of operational expertise to Devotion Ventures' Portfolio Companies.
The Wallmark story
Welcome to our event in honour of Torkel Wallmark. Wallmark became Professor in Innovation Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in 1983, the first in Sweden. His unique contribution to the university by creating and developing innovation operations has led to the highly successful profile area entrepreneurship at Chalmers.
