Abstract:
This talk examines the paradox of free markets, which have driven prosperity yet now accelerate our approach toward potentially catastrophic artificial superintelligence. I argue that even staunch free-market advocates shouldn't trust markets to handle the development of superintelligence, and even with government regulation, we are unlikely to achieve a good outcome.
