Strategic partnerships

Chalmers has a number of partnerships with strategically selected organisations and companies. The partnerships are long-term and large-scale initiatives that often span many years and involve all parts of Chalmers. This enables Chalmers and the external partners to gain in-depth understanding of each other’s operations and conditions in order to contribute to growth and competitiveness.

Our strategic partnerships connect collaboration at management level with ongoing concrete projects. This ensures the sharing of knowledge and overarching needs, which enables Chalmers and the company managements to create joint agendas. A joint activity plan is drawn up annually with each strategic partner. This is a stage in systematic work that stimulates development and enables follow-up to take place.

The companies’ sector insight provides important input when Chalmers plans its education, which thereby secures a long-term supply of competence. Chalmers’ students can also feel assured that they will find relevant jobs after graduation – their competence is clearly in demand.

In research, the parties invest in joint research projects that require cutting-edge expertise and that need to harness the disciplinary breadth that Chalmers can offer. In the joint initiatives, staff at Chalmers and the partner companies can work on each other’s premises for long or short periods of time. This enables competence to be conveyed in a simple and direct way.

Chalmers’ Areas of Advance are based on in-depth subject research, but they work laterally across Chalmers’ disciplines. The Areas of Advance are the hosts of Chalmers’ strategic partnerships. Among other things, this means that the Areas of Advance coordinate the work to ensure breadth and engagement from the entire university.

Chalmers has a long tradition of highly effective collaboration with society, industry and commerce. This collaboration is a key to long-term high quality and enables Chalmers to contribute to the development of society, industry and commerce. The collaboration also creates good conditions for attracting international competence to Sweden.
