Addresses major health-related societal challenges by developing new technologies and innovative solutions in close collaboration with healthcare and industry.
This is done through multidisciplinary collaboration between Chalmers researchers from different departments and through external partners in academia, healthcare and industry. We promote research initiatives on prevention for the benefit of both individuals and society to achieve the global goals of a society with excellent and equitable public health and quality of life, and to provide sustainable and effective patient-centred healthcare. We contribute to the development of new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and the development of new systems and environments for care and health – key elements in achieving the transition to sustainable health in society.
We focus on five core areas:
- Digitalisation, Big Data and AI
- Infection, diagnostics, and drug delivery
- Medical Engineering
- Prevention, lifestyle, and ergonomics
- Systems and built environments for health and care
Health Engineering Area of Advance also hosts the Gothenburg Research School of Health Engineering, GRSHE. It is a joint research school for doctoral students at Chalmers, the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
Our research areas, centres, and available infrastructure in Health Engineering.
