The research at Chalmers MCR is carried out by the MCR-affiliated research groups in collaboration with our research-provider partners.
The main research areas are:
- Modelling and Simulation of Machining Operations
- Surface Integrity and Materials
- Emerging Technologies
The collaborative research is carried out on behalf of the MRC partnership and follows a common research roadmap. Projects are agreed on by the MCR Advisory Board and are internally reviewed bi-annually.
Specific research for individual companies is funded directly, with the company having exclusive rights to any resulting intellectual property.
The focus is often on fundamental research at the earlier stages of development (TRL 1-5). These projects are typically funded by VINNOVA, Sweden’s innovation agency, or some other external body and may involve collaboration with external research and industrial partners. The research scope and synergies are closely aligned with the research roadmaps of our industry partners.
